Matthew 2:1-3

2 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea
in the days of Herod the king, behold,
there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews?
for we have seen his star in the east,
and are come to worship him.
3 When Herod the king had heard these things,
he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
Why does "east" matter?
I come from southeast Asia.
There is also the Middle East.
But we are not what matters.
All that matters is the "east" in Jerusalem.
What is its significance in Bible prophecy?
What is the world's future regarding the "east"?
As you saw from the verses above, "wise men from the east" sought the "King of the Jews", the day JESUS was born.
Soon as GOD made me born again in September 2019, He led me to Bible prophecy right away.
That's how I got introduced to the EAST, and its significance.
One of the most important, and very telling factors to the future of the world is this:
On "The Eastern Gate in Prophecy"
And I wondered, to this day, why does the Bible particularly mention the "east" when it refers to GOD, JESUS, the tribe of Judah, and here's where SPIRIT led me -- through Scripture:
Numbers 2:1-4
King James Version
2 And the Lord spake unto Moses
and unto Aaron, saying,
2 Every man of the children of Israel
shall pitch by his own standard,
with the ensign of their father's house:
far off about the tabernacle of the congregation
shall they pitch.
3 And on the east side toward the rising of the sun
shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah
pitch throughout their armies:
and Nahshon the son of Amminadab
shall be captain of the children of Judah.
4 And his host,
and those that were numbered of them,
were threescore and fourteen thousand
and six hundred.
That shows the relation, and importance of the tribe of Judah the "east", and Israel, right from the start.
It's what JESUS, the "great high priest" from Judah came for, as prophesied:
Jeremiah 23:5-6

5 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord,
that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch,
and a King shall reign and prosper,
and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.
6 In his days Judah shall be saved,
and Israel shall dwell safely:
and this is his name whereby he shall be called,
The Lord Our Righteousness.
But here's more, this time, about an eastern gate*:
Ezekiel 43:1-5

43 Afterward he brought me to the gate,
even the gate that looketh toward the east:
2 And, behold,
the glory of the God of Israel
came from the way of the east:
and his voice was like a noise of many waters:
and the earth shined with his glory.
3 And it was according to the appearance
of the vision which I saw,
even according to the vision that I saw
when I came to destroy the city:
and the visions were like the vision
that I saw by the river Chebar;
and I fell upon my face.
4 And the glory of the Lord came
into the house by the way of the gate
whose prospect is toward the east.
5 So the spirit took me up,
and brought me into the inner court;
and, behold, the glory of the Lord
filled the house.
Ezekiel 44:1-3

44 Then he brought me back
the way of the gate
of the outward sanctuary
which looketh toward the east;
and it was shut.
2 Then said the Lord unto me;
This gate shall be shut,
it shall not be opened,
and no man shall enter in by it;
because the Lord, the God of Israel,
hath entered in by it, therefore it shall be shut.
3 It is for the prince;
the prince, he shall sit in it
to eat bread before the Lord;
he shall enter by the way of the porch of that gate,
and shall go out by the way of the same.
Matthew 24:27
King James Version
27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east,
and shineth even unto the west;
so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
From the verses above, here are the KEY phrases, and declarations:
"we have seen his star in the east"
"on the east side toward the rising of the sun shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah pitch throughout their armies"
"the gate that looketh toward the east"
"the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east"
"the glory of the Lord came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east"
"Then he brought me back the way of the gate of the outward sanctuary which looketh toward the east; and it was shut."
"This gate shall be shut, it shall not be opened, and no man shall enter in by it; because the Lord, the God of Israel, hath entered in by it, therefore it shall be shut."

Look to the EAST.
To that eastern gate in Jerusalem.
Where "the Lord, the God of Israel, hath entered in by it".
Where it remains shut to this day.
Where a Muslim cemetery has been put in, to block it.
And where JESUS shall return.
