Vatican FINANCIAL mess

So, the Catholic church has a new pope.

Robert Francis Prevost, is now known as pope Leo XIV.

Just as I embarked on more research, the HOLY SPIRIT led me to something "intriguing".

The Vatican was in financial straits.

Huh, is that possible?

Wasn't it a "state"?

Didn't it have a bank?

Didn't it have all those "treasures"?

Do you believe the Vatican to be "poor"?

Well, that financial "mess" is best described here.

From that refreshing 18-minute podcast, I learned these:

"The Vatican might call to mind priceless treasures, gold chalices, the Sistine Chapel, vast cathedrals. But if you look at the religious institution through a fiscal lens, it's actually asset-rich and cash-poor."

"The pension fund is facing about two billion euros in liabilities."

From the podcast, we learned pope Benedict was overwhelmed by Vatican's financial mess.

That's why he resigned on 10 February 2013, and preferred a life "dedicated to prayer".

Then pope Francis takes over.

He hires an auditor, but the latter encounters curious "problems" at work.

Then pope Francis passed on last 21 April 2025.

Now, pope Leo XIV takes over.

Is it any "coincidence" he's an American pope?

It's possible, in Vatican's financial mess, he's what's needed.

Even as he holds dual citizenship, both American and Peruvian.

We learned that Jesuit pope Francis wanted a "missionary" to succeed him.

Augustinian Prevost fits the bill.

Well, Trump is the new American president.

We just wrote about his first 100 days, moments ago.

And now, we learned of the new pope -- an American.

Surprising most everyone.

But if you knew where SPIRIT had been leading me to since yesterday, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

It all "ties" up today.

President Trump already congratulated the new pope.

And looks forward to meeting with him.

America's really getting back her power.

First, with a MEGA president.

And now, with the FIRST American pope yet.

Thinking along those lines, I stretch it further.

Would president Trump help Vatican's finances?

Perhaps, give a few "suggestions"?

Being commonsensical, another thought occurs to us.

Can't the Vatican sell some of their treasures?

We've even heard of some Nazi gold somewhere.

Tyler Marshall has this interesting report on 23 July 1997, on the "Los Angeles Times":

Pius XII was pope during the Second World War.

Controversies followed him, too.

But you gotta admit it.

Vatican has to sell some stuff.

At least, to stabilize their financess, and secure their "pension" fund.

I can imagine art collectors falling all over themselves for an auction, or something.

I can also imagine president Trump expecting the same from the Vatican.

It just makes sense to "liquidate" your "assets", in times of trouble.

As it is, the WSJ podcast pretty much echoes the same thought:

Jessica Mendoza: "It might mean more salary cuts, reducing core missions, hiking museum fees, overhauling the Vatican Bank. But there's one seemingly obvious solution to this whole money problem. So Drew, can you explain to me how can the Vatican be in such a financial mess if it's also sitting on this pretty unimaginable wealth of art and history, right? They've got the manuscripts in the Vatican Library. They've got works of art from da Vinci and Michelangelo. Couldn't they just sell that stuff?"

Drew Hinshaw: "The Vatican has no intention of ever selling off its inheritance. In fact, it lists many of its kind of priceless works of art, including the Sistine Chapel on its books as at a nominal value of one Euro each, which is a way of saying these things are of religious and artistic and historical significance, not of financial significance. It would never, ever part with its... This is its patrimony."

Uh-oh, if you've followed president Trump as I have, you'd know that won't sit well with him, if they were to ask his opinion, or suggestion.

Judging by his DOGE, prioritizing, and cost-cutting programs, he'd go for practical solutions -- and fast!

The "hemorrhage" must stop.

It will be interesting to see how the new American pope will tend to Vatican's financial challenges.

But he is now head of his "state", surely, he'll find solutions.

Will he call on his president's help?

Is the Vatican "high maintenance"?

Will the Catholic church look beyond possessions, and look to JESUS' simplicity?

GOD's will be done.

And, in all honesty, solutions are pretty simple.

You just have to have a born again heart.

Then you'll know what matters most.

SPIRIT will teach you GOD's ways.

Just pure common sense.

It's not even a predicament.

It's just a matter of priorities.

Thoughts on DELAWARE

She may be tiny, but she's quite a "powerhouse".

That's Delaware for you.

Owing to business, and a rich history.

The HOLY SPIRIT put her on my "map" this morning.

For reasons that will be clear as we sift along.

It started with a Fox News report today: 

"Pharmaceutical giant details plan to create thousands of US jobs"

Merck will build a plant in Wilmington, Delaware.

CEO Robert Davis spoke of manufacturing "next-generation tissue targeting therapies", combined with Keytruda, focusing on cancer immunotherapy, immunology, cardio-metabolic meds, and multiple vaccines.

They expect to have 20 plus new products in three to five years.

That means 500 high paying jobs, apart from needing between 4,000 to 30,000 construction workers to build the plant.

Why Delaware?

Haven't businesses from California moved to Texas?

This deserves some looking into.

I got intrigued immediately, and searched my memory bank.

When I think of Delaware, a few things come to mind --

What I knew THEN:

1. "Millionaire's Game".

The kid's board game my father taught me many decades ago. 

That's how I got to know about Delaware.

I believe I "bought" a property there.

2. Ease of incorporation.

"More than half of all U.S. publicly traded companies, and 63% of the Fortune 500, are incorporated in Delaware.[131] The state's attractiveness as a corporate haven is largely because of its business-friendly corporation law."

What I've come to know DURING the 2024 elections:

3. Joe Biden is from Delaware.

"Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Biden graduated from the University of Delaware in 1965 and the Syracuse University College of Law in 1968."

"He was admitted to the Delaware bar in 1969."

"Biden clerked at a Wilmington law firm headed by prominent local Republican William Prickett in 1968 and self-identified as a Republican.[28][29] He disliked incumbent Democratic Delaware governor Charles L. What I've come to know NOW:

4. Delaware was the first state admitted to the Union -- 7 December 1787.

5. Importance of Wilmington.

"Wilmington has become a national financial center for the credit card industry, largely due to regulations enacted by former Governor Pierre S. du Pont IV in 1981."

"Because Delaware is the official state of incorporation for so many American companies, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, located in Wilmington, is one of the busiest of the 94 federal bankruptcy courts located around the United States."

6. Location.

"Delaware (/ˈdɛləwɛər/ ⓘ DEL-ə-wair)[10] is a state in the Mid-Atlantic and South Atlantic[11] regions of the United States.[12] It borders Maryland to its south and west, Pennsylvania to its north, New Jersey to its northeast, and the Atlantic Ocean to its east."

7. Size.

8. DuPont is also in Wilmington.

9. Religion.

10. Income.

"According to a 2020 study by Kiplinger, Delaware had the 17th most millionaires per capita in the United States; altogether, there were 25,937 such individuals. The median income for Delaware households as of 2020 was $64,805."

11. Politics.

"Democrats hold all positions of authority in Delaware, as well as majorities in the state Senate and House. The Democrats have held the governorship since 1993, having won the last seven gubernatorial elections."

"In a 2020 study, Delaware was ranked as the 18th hardest state for citizens to vote in."

12. Amish community.

"Delaware is home to an Amish community which resides west of Dover in Kent County, consisting of nine church districts and about 1,650 people. The Amish first settled in Kent County in 1915. In recent years, increasing development has led to the decline in the number of Amish living in the community."

After gathering all these data, a few things "played" in my mind --

Merck CEO, Robert Davis, had good relations with president Trump in 2018.

Now, he builds a plant in Wilmington, under Trump's second presidency.

How will this sit with Delaware native, Joe Biden, and the Delaware Democrat stronghold?

Merck will also build a plant in Wilmington, where DuPont is.

America's really back in manufacturing.

Delaware is primarily "Christian" -- more Catholic, and Methodist, than evangelical Protestants.

And yet they allow same gender marriage, and LGBTQ.

Not surprising, for it's mainly Dems in Delaware.

Fortunately, there's an Amish community, too.

Delaware is "Chemical Capital of the World".

At least, according to my kid's book, "Time for Learning: STATES".

President Trump does have a mandate.

To bring jobs and industries back to America.

To make America strong, and prosperous again.

Companies, here and abroad, seem to share his vision.

They've begun reinvesting, and working with his tariffs.

We pray Dems will abandon their defiance.

And start working with the president.

After all, it's for GOD, and America.

That's what Trump cares about.

President Trump's been at this "game" too long.

And yet, the woke left media keeps branding him negatively.

His Dem critics rage at his policies.

Thing is, Trump knows business, and politics.

By now, he knows TONS of people, friends, and foes.

He knows what he intends to achieve.

And achieve it, he will.

Sure, he seems to "throw" funny ideas in the air.

With people thinking he's lost his coconut.

Well, don't be so quick to brand Trump that way.

He's had a lot of time to think; to make "adjustments".

Most importantly, I am witness that GOD chose him.

If GOD chose him, then He knows Trump would be effective.

Possibly the ONLY person who could pull it off -- globally.

Especially in these dark, crazy, dubious days.

Today, all my SPIRIT-inspired thoughts were confirmed by two experts:

Kevin Hassett on:

"Trump is 'bringing everybody' to the trade table"

and

Victor Davis Hanson on:

"The ‘Trade War’ That Never Was"

Look what these two very smart people said on the short videos --

Economist Hassett says:

"The president is someone who has rebooted the global trading system with his first tariff move."

Military historian Hanson says:

"The trade war, or tariff war, was never really a war. It was just an effort to stop a 50-year cycle of chronic American trade deficits that had harmed the industrial interior."

If that's trying to end a "50-year cycle" of trade deficits, you can imagine the astronomical reforms president Trump has to do.

That's why I find his critics, cruel.

Hassett also says from 34 countries, they have 18 written offers from countries offering "great trade deals".

And in case you think that's it, wait for more.

There's a three-page list of countries wanting to meet with Trump.

A list, in single-space, btw.

It was as I suspected, too.

This thing about Trump's ways, and methods.

President Trump threw everyone in "turmoil".

Knowing they'd eventually "come to the table" to "negotiate".

Many were shaken from complacency.

Others got confused, thinking they've got the American mind all figured out.

Well, Trump would have none of such disrespect.

He was looking after the interests of the American people.

He'd have none of the destructiveness of war.

He wanted fair trade.

He knew there'd be initial shock, anger, and all that.

That's why, early in his campaign, he already warned the American people.

There will be "pain", initially.

He knew the "process".

There was no miracle pill, to make overnight gains.

The American people had to see it through, with him.

He had a plan, and he's working non-stop with his team.

Despite all the attacks, mockery, criticisms, and sabotage.

He has to endure all that, because there was a goal in sight:

"MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN"

Countries will want to negotiate.

Or re-negotiate.

And it's happening.

Just as he thought.

Just as I suspected.

And I'm no economist.

What's hard to understand?

Trump believed in "reciprocal" tariffs.

It's such a beautiful word, actually.

It's "give and take".

One can't keep taking unfairly.

That's why it's a "trade".

Well, America was hurting.

Most countries were treating her badly.

President Trump was consistent about his criticisms.

He accused countries of slapping high tariffs on America.

And yet, they wouldn't want to take her products.

It became a one-way street.

Trump knew that about Japan in 1987.

Now, China's taken Japan's place.

Thing is, America allowed it, too.

GOD gave Trump this opportune time to set things right.

By GOD's GRACE, today is his day to bring America back to her feet.

No matter how DEFIANT dino Dems try to sabotage his policies.

No matter 95% of world media don't write well about him.

President Trump's got a plan, and he's got to see it through.

This is his moment, and no one can take take that opportunity from him.

"What they charge us; we charge them."

Even a grade schooler can understand that.

And maybe, we're all grade schoolers.

Why else does Trump have to speak to us that way?

Because many have thick-headed skulls that refuse to budge.

So, Trump speaks in the simplest, clearest, and most sensible way possible.

Even as he knows many will try to purposely distort his words, and discredit his ways.

There's those sayings, 

"Damned if you do; damned if you don't."

"Can't win 'em all."

Well, what will you do, if you've got a "vision"?

Just go ahead -- do it.

Accomplish it to fruition.

As Trump says, he's "flexible".

He makes allowances, room for growth, areas for negotiation.

The idea is to "come to the table".

"Let's talk."

That's how he gets deals done.

And it's part of the game Trump enjoys immensely.

You've got to put yourself in his shoes to understand his persona.

He's "been there, done that", so don't start.

He's earned the right to set the rules, too.

Over 77 million Americans voted for him.

They knew what he was about.

As born again watchman, I must say the only deal that's "hands off" is the matter on Israel.

I know it's not a trade deal.

It's a "sovereignty" deal.

And it's not up for "negotiation".

It's a SACRED covenant between GOD, and Israel.

GOD won't allow ANYONE to divide HIS land -- EVER.

No one can "sweeten" a deal GOD will surely make "sour".

We have quite a bunch of quotes we've noted, from listening to president Trump's campaigns, rallies, speeches, and declarations.

We like listening to him, because he's got a lot of common sense.

GOD "appointed" this watchman to specifically "look after" this leader.

Thus, we're documenting GOD's moves, Trump's words, and actions.

GOD chose him to lead, and he's at it.

He does what he says he will do.

Truly a no-nonsense president.

Now the most powerful leader, of the most powerful nation on earth.

Bringing America, back to the forefront.

And yet, his critics purposely ignore his efforts.

We did write about hatred, and envy, yesterday.

No matter, the president keeps on.

Serving the American people, as best as he can.

He's been given this golden opportunity to do so.

As he said, GOD "spared" his life "for a reason".

Now, he has this second chance at world leadership.

And you can be sure he'll do even better.

He's making up for lost time, that was taken from him.

Cleaning up after all the presidents before him.

Thus, the furious pace.

We appreciate his love for America.

We are not blind to how hard he works.

We found that he also has a lot to teach us.

And we're paying attention to every word he says.

Just so you know, he has been clear, and consistent.

Speaking in the simplest language anyone can understand.

The world has run out of excuses not to appreciate him.

Unless they just want to do so -- out of spite.

We know about the 125% tariff president Trump imposed on retaliatory China.

We know his love for America, from the 1987 interview.

Where before, Japan's goods, and industries, posed a threat for America, today, it's China.

We know Trump's desire in bringing manufacturing back to America.

He promised that at his campaign in 2024.

And if you've followed the president as I have, you'd know he's been keeping his promises.

More so at this second term of his.

Wherein he sees clearly the threats America faces.

Economically, and militarily.

We also know he wants to give jobs back to America.

We know he has strengthened America's borders and economy.

So, we wondered about the state of manufacturing in America.

Are there real American products being made?

Are the American people buying their own products?

Is there a company with all-American products?

Was someone "protecting" the industry?

All from his own initiative?

As it turns out, there is.

In the course of my research the past week, the HOLY SPIRIT led me to "MADE IN AMERICA STORE".

If you're in marketing and communications, as I had been for sometime now, you'd marvel at the INGENUITY of such a name.

Simple, straightforward, and spirit-filled.

Tells you EXACTLY what it is.

That's an American trait, for sure.

At age 23, Mark "rented a 5,000 sq.ft. shop in East Aurora and opened General Welding & Fabricating".

Its 10 employees' motto was “You Dream It, We Build or Repair It”.

From 50 products, now Mark Andol's "100% American-made products" store make up a whopping 15,000 products.

Such is Mark's work ethic.

He just kept on, no matter what.

Despite a temporary slump in his welding business in 2007.

All because China started coming in.
