Exodus 12:14
King James Version
14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial;
and ye shall keep it a feast to the Lord
throughout your generations;
ye shall keep it a feast
by an ordinance for ever.
A "feast to the Lord".
A "feast by an ordinance for ever".
That's how important the "Passover" is.
This year, it's held on the evening of 12 April 2025, to 20 April 2025.
Why the whole lamb, the matzah, bitter herbs, and four cups of wine?
Exodus 12:8
King James Version
8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night,
roast with fire, and unleavened bread;
and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
Amir Tsarfati, of Behold Israel, best describes the feast in this precious 12-minute video:
The True Meaning of Pesach (Passover)
"Jesus is still hidden from His own people. But the day will come when all Israel will recognize Him, and be saved."
-- Amir Tsarfati
In my desire to understand the "Passover", SPIRIT guided me to create a blog last year, on 23 September 2023:
The world has their calendar.
But Amir says GOD's calendar begins with the Passover.
At least, for the Jews:
Exodus 12:1-2
King James Version
12 And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron
in the land of Egypt saying,
2 This month shall be unto you
the beginning of months:
it shall be the first month of the year to you.
That's when GOD commanded Moses to have his people sacrifice a "lamb without blemish", and put its blood on their doorposts, ensuring their male firstborns' safety.
Exodus 12:23
King James Version
23 For the Lord will pass through
to smite the Egyptians;
and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel,
and on the two side posts,
the Lord will pass over the door,
and will not suffer the destroyer to come in
unto your houses to smite you.
The Passover was to be a feast "forever" for the Jews.
Exodus 12:24
King James Version
24 And ye shall observe this thing
for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons
for ever.
In the New Testament, JESUS is that Passover lamb -- the "trespass offering" -- sacrificed for our sins.
Isaiah 53:5-10
King James Version
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions,
he was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon him;
and with his stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned every one to his own way;
and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,
yet he opened not his mouth:
he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb,
so he openeth not his mouth.
8 He was taken from prison and from judgment:
and who shall declare his generation?
for he was cut off out of the land of the living:
for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
9 And he made his grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death;
because he had done no violence,
neither was any deceit in his mouth.
10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him;
he hath put him to grief:
when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin,
he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days,
and the pleasure of the Lord
shall prosper in his hand.
Luke 22:15-20
King James Version
15 And he said unto them,
With desire I have desired
to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
16 For I say unto you,
I will not any more eat thereof,
until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks,
and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
18 For I say unto you,
I will not drink of the fruit of the vine,
until the kingdom of God shall come.
19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it,
and gave unto them, saying,
This is my body which is given for you:
this do in remembrance of me.
20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying,
This cup is the new testament in my blood,
which is shed for you.
1 Corinthians 5:7-8
King James Version
7 Purge out therefore the old leaven,
that ye may be a new lump,
as ye are unleavened.
For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven,
neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness;
but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
1 Corinthians 15:45-47
King James Version
45 And so it is written,
The first man Adam was made a living soul;
the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual,
but that which is natural;
and afterward that which is spiritual.
47 The first man is of the earth, earthy;
the second man is the Lord from heaven.
2 Corinthians 5:21
King James Version
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us,
who knew no sin;
that we might be made
the righteousness of God in him.
Colossians 2:16-17
King James Version
16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat,
or in drink, or in respect of an holyday,
or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come;
but the body is of Christ.
Hebrews 9:15
King James Version
15 And for this cause he is the mediator
of the new testament,
that by means of death,
for the redemption of the transgressions
that were under the first testament,
they which are called might receive
the promise of eternal inheritance.
JESUS knew the significance of the Passover in His life.
And for the "fulfillment" of Scripture:
Matthew 26:1-2
King James Version
26 And it came to pass,
when Jesus had finished all these sayings,
he said unto his disciples,
2 Ye know that after two days
is the feast of the passover,
and the Son of man is betrayed
to be crucified.
Luke 22:1-3
King James Version
22 Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh,
which is called the Passover.
2 And the chief priests and scribes
sought how they might kill him;
for they feared the people.
3 Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot,
being of the number of the twelve.
The Passover feast ends on the day of JESUS' Resurrection.
The GOSPEL of JESUS CHRIST celebrates the Life, Death, and RESURRECTION of CHRIST.
1 Corinthians 15:3-4
King James Version
3 For I delivered unto you first of all
that which I also received,
how that Christ died for our sins
according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried,
and that he rose again the third day
according to the scriptures:
So when I think of how the world, and universities, persecute the Jews, I think of their "blindness".
Israel is GOD's "beloved".
SPIRIT led me to Israel's "Pesach" -- their "Passover" -- truly distinguishing them from the rest of the world.
Isaiah 43:21
King James Version
21 This people have I formed for myself;
they shall shew forth my praise.
Deuteronomy 7:7
King James Version
7 The Lord did not set his love upon you,
nor choose you,
because ye were more in number than any people;
for ye were the fewest of all people:
Deuteronomy 14:2
King James Version
2 For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God,
and the Lord hath chosen thee
to be a peculiar people unto himself,
above all the nations that are upon the earth.
1 Peter 2:9
King James Version
9 But ye are a chosen generation,
a royal priesthood,
an holy nation,
a peculiar people;
that ye should shew forth the praises of him
who hath called you out of darkness
into his marvellous light;
And it brings tears to my eyes.
